Two young men, ages 20 and 18, were fatally shot on Thursday afternoon, following a heated daytime dispute in the Dunning/Irving Woods neighborhood on Chicago's Far Northwest Side. One victim has been identified by family members as Carlos M.D. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, chest, back and right shoulder and the 18-year-old Male sustained gunshot wounds to his neck, back and left leg.

Witnesses reported seeing up to 3 suspects wearing hoodies fleeing the scene. According to a police report, at least two gunmen ran inside the home at 7873 W. Cahill Terrace right after the shooting, ran back out the front door, fled westbound on Cahill, and then turned north onto Pacific Avenue.

At the scene, officers recovered a standard handgun, a replica/fake handgun, six shell casings and a grocery bag filled with e-cigarettes. Police were also seen searching nearby alleys and garbage cans for discarded weapons.

Local crime records highlight that this specific block of West Cahill Terrace is historically peaceful, logging fewer than 130 total crimes over the last 25 years.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud verbal argument outside on a deck that quickly escalated into a rapid succession of gunfire. Some residents initially mistook the gunshots for fireworks.

The location is directly across the street from Hiawatha Park, where children were actively playing outside at the time.
