Regardless of race, that's the one thing all these cases have in common: resistance and escalation of physicality by the suspect. It's almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. Dude hates cops because he thinks they're assholes that shoot people at the drop of a hat, so he resists, talks shit, fights back, and/or pulls out a weapon. Gets shot like he thought he would. Then, we all want to act surprised by the outcome. |

I'm not sure on this one. On one hand, why would the officer just fire blindly into the vehicle after the first few shots. Who was he shooting at specifically? The article didn't state this. One innocent person was killed and another innocent person injured. On the other hand, people have to be very careful of the company you keep (guilt by association). In America, if law enforcement is fired upon, you can be certain of (and should expect) a very heavy response. |
