A man, identified as Lovepreet Singh, was doused with a flammable substance, believed to be kerosene, and set on fire by his brother-in-law, Sajan Singh, while attempting to bring his wife home from her parental village following a domestic dispute.

In the process, Sajan also set his sister, Gurjit Kaur, who had come to help Lovepreet, on fire, with Gurjit succumbing to her burn injuries a few days later.

Lovepreet had been married for about nine months and had gone to persuade his wife, Sandeep Kaur, to return with him after she left their home shortly after the wedding amid a dispute. Lovepreet ended up in a heated argument with Sajan, before Sajan poured petrol over him and ignited it with a lighter.

Police have arrested both Sajan and Sandeep in connection with the incident.

Damn. The way that Lovepreet squirmed around in the ditch for while before just getting up & walking away while still in full burn mode when he realized it wasn't helping. It looks like they probably dumped that big bucket on the left on him because of the way it catches fire.

As she was not present at the time, his brother-in-law, Sajan Singh, allegedly asked him to come later.

When Lovepreet Singh returned, Sajan Singh allegedly poured petrol on him and set him ablaze with a matchstick.

In an attempt to save himself, Lovepreet Singh jumped into a nearby drain.

During the incident, neighbour Gurjit Kaur rushed to his rescue but suffered severe burn injuries. She was admitted to a hospital in Amritsar, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The SHO said Lovepreet Singh had already died from his injuries, while Gurjit Kaur passed away on Thursday.

He added that the accused, Sajan Singh, also sustained around 50% burn injuries during the incident and is undergoing treatment at Punjab Hospital. His condition remains serious.

Anyway the woman died also. I was surprised he got up after 10 seconds from that drain and still walked away engulfed in flames but maybe he put his face into some water in the drain.
