Re: Tulsa PD Runs Over Girl with Cruiser
Well she not only had a 'deadly weapon' but was also using it against the police... This can certainly be countered with shooting her with a gun but they instead had the opportunity to use 'not quite as lethal force' by using their cruiser to gain control over her. I thought that was a creative way to quickly get control of the situation without killing her. I say good for the police on this one.

Re: Tulsa PD Runs Over Girl with Cruiser
Here's the reasoning behind why they did this the way they did. When someone is shooting at you or your fellow officers, lethal force is authorized. Whether that means using a gun to shoot to kill, or using a vehicle to run the suspect over. A vehicle is considered a weapon when used with hostile intent. It can also be considered a means of self defense when being used to counter the actions of someone who is trying to harm you. I had a gun pulled on me before, when I as in my vehicle and the suspect was in front of me. I will tell you that my first thought was to run him over. The thought of securing my vehicle's brake, getting out, drawing my weapon, and trying to get a shot off before he could get a shot at me, never occurred to me. He's already got his gun aimed at me, all he has to do is pull the trigger. As soon as I stopped my car and started getting out, I would've been dead. So back to the woman in the clip. Was she able to shoot again? No idea, her gun wasn't displaying any evidence that it was out of ammunition or otherwise incapable of firing. Is there reason to consider the suspect will open fire or attempt to kill the officer driving or any other officers trying to take her into custody? Yes, she's done that already by firing at officers several times. All in all, I believe the officer in this video made the correct choice by choosing to run the suspect down. A dangerous criminal is off the streets, and all the officers got to go home to their families that night. |

Re: Tulsa PD Runs Over Girl with Cruiser
Seriously? A suspect firing a weapon at an officer justifies a use of deadly force, and police, once deadly force is "activated" are taught to use it in full (otherwise, if a suspect has a firearm and is trying to use it, if you merely maim them they might still hurt you or an innocent bystander). As soon as she pointed the gun at him she "activated" deadly force, and the officer was entirely justified in using it in full.

I live less than a mile from there. She had already shot and killed someone the day before. Firing on a cop will get you that every time. Saved us money in housing her punk ass for life.
