He had not put the park brake on, trailer brakes were on but when you put the red airline on it releases the trailer brakes, if he had just took the red line off it would have stopped. I have been a truck driver for 46 years.

Something weird going on.
You shouldn’t be able to have that brake valve released hookin up, and the brake should set if he unhooked
