As a truck driver, this shit goes through my mind every day. I have enough sense to do proper pre-trip inspections and put equipment out of service when I find tires with obvious defects, but even still, I get paranoid knowing that those things are basically 100lb grenades.

Seeing so many of these tire explosions it’s a wonder that tire guys would even want to get near them. I guess it’s not that common when you consider how many trucks are on the road and how often they get tires changed but still… no thanks.

Recutting lorry tyres is a common practice, but in poorer countries (and sonetimes in richer ones) they're recut too much, resulting in this type of mishap.
