May 29, 2023, Argentina- One woman died, two other people suffered serious injuries and at least seven vehicles were seriously damaged when they were rammed today in a chain by a truck that was left without brakes in an access to the Santa Fe town of Villa Gobernador Gálvez.

The road accident occurred when a truck with a trailer loaded with cement bags "would have been left without brakes," after which, it caused a chain crash when the row of vehicles waiting at the traffic light collided, according to police sources.

The collision occurred this noon in the vicinity of López Streets and San Martín Avenue, in the neighboring town, located south of Rosario.

The truck also rammed a couple who were traveling on a motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries to a woman, so she was evacuated by medical helicopter to the HECA Hospital in Rosario, however it was reported that she died at 3 pm, shortly after arriving at the medical institution. Meanwhile, the young man was referred to Gámen in serious condition. The rest of those affected suffered minor injuries.

The official also reported that the truck driver suffered minor injuries and "is now at the shelter at the local police station."

Due to the force of the impact, a lighting column was knocked down, so there is no light on the perimeter and municipal personnel also work in the area.

That's a lot of weight there, don't understand the whole "No brakes" thing. He didn't know prior there were no brakes, did he just pull out a block ago that he's just finding out no brakes?

Could he have driven left into the trees to save the people in the cars? I have never driven a semi truck, but it almost looks like target fixation or they just selfishly plowed ahead to save themselves instead of risking injury by hitting a tree...

Yeah or veer right and then hard right to jackknife the trailer into the buildings bringing it to a halt. I've played tons of video games and this is how it's done

overloaded trucks and shitty maintenance is one of the nightmares in traffic. In traffic jams i always look frantically in the rearview mirror for exactly these kind of reasons. Not there's much you can do when a truck is storming at you but you can brace yourself for impact death
