Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial
I have not wateched the vid (not yet anyway, I'm at work), but I think it's awesome. Face it, you're in the mountains, and with your death you give back life by feeding birds, who ten take to the sky. It's both useful and poetic. And instead of rotting and being eaten underground by maggots, you get to be eaten by flying animals (ok, their vultures, which kinda sucks) on a mountain. I love this. |

Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial
Really amazing; the roghpurs (the guys who skin the corpses) will also then grind the bones and leftovers with tsampa (barley flour) and the vultures will take everything; nothing will be left. Makes ecological sense to me; ground is covered with permafrost, so no digging graves, no wood for a funeral pyre. I myself would love to be disposed of this way for sure. I would like to think my soul is soaring over the Tibetan Himalayas for sure |
