Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial

I actually like that. Imagine all the rotting, stinking body tissue and fluids contaminating the soil at cemeteries in other parts of the world.

Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial

No wood for cremation, ground too rocky to dig- these burials came about due to geography and geology.

Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial

No other animal is buried after death- the bodies serve a purpose in food for other animals- humans are just another species of animal- try explaining that one to a creationist

Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial

I wonder how much it would cost to ship my body there and if they would do it for me (a stranger). Otherwise I'm getting cremated and ashes spread. I have never in my life understood why humans want to bury remains. It is filthy and a waste of space.

Re: Traditional Tibetan Sky Burial

Let's face it, after death, a cadaver is nothing but meat, soon to spoil, unless the body was poisoned by embalming...

Huh? Not sure what you think 'soil' is made of. It's a natural process. Nothing new. The soil that we grow our crops in is made of the decomposed bodies of everything that ever lived. Plants and animals. Where did you think soil came from? It's all just shit.

Burial is simply to avoid the smell. It has become a tradition because of centuries of doing so, but it really just started to avoid the smell.

Burials for the dead is a very old tradition that we don't exactly know when started.

Tribes of humans began doing so for one reason and one reason only: to prevent predators coming around for the flesh. It became a tradition over the thousands of years along with burning of the body and this etc.
