He was loaded with a container that probably had something inside. and on the contrary, in spite of the load, his legs managed to lift him clear off the ground before falling. maybe the last command from his brain was to tell his legs to jump and run away after the noise came.

Actually it is a reflex movement after the brain stem gets disconnected from the spinal chord as the bullet's temporary cavity destroys the mid brain.
