Yeah, I guess an unexpected manoeuvre has a chance to get away. Or even an inexperienced operator. On the whole though, you gotta be fast or clever to escape those cross hairs the operator has on the target.

Misses are almost always due to operator error.

moo slums are generally poorly trained barely-different-than-cavemen operators.

If they shoot something - anything - in the general direction of the enemy and are allowed to shout "Snackbar!" then they are a 'success'.


For them, it's all about the "Snackbar!".

Yeah, they'll all be after the "fire and forget" type, when they are available to them.

The TOW missile in its current variations is not a fire-and-forget weapon, and like most second generation wire-guided missiles has Semi-Automatic Command Line of Sight guidance. This means that the guidance system is directly linked to the platform, and requires that the target be kept in the shooter's line of sight until the missile impacts. This has been the major impetus to develop either a fire-and-forget version of the system or to develop a successor with this ability.
