Re: Tom Pryce Crash @ Kyalami S.A. 1977
Yes, Van Vuuren was practically split in half. Pryce's car hit him at 270 Km/h. Since Van Vuuren was a volunteer (And at that time in F1 to become a marshall You just had to ask for it and attend a 2 hour lesson) nobody of his colleagues wanted to go for identification, given the state of his body... This has probably been the oddest accident in F1 history, I've found a picture of Tom Pryce, dead inside his car... Hope it's not a repost, it's not in this thread, anyway: |

Re: Tom Pryce Crash @ Kyalami S.A. 1977
Death of Tom Pryce and track marshal Frederick Jansen Van Vuuren, South-African GP, 5th march 1977. The drivers head was smashed with the marshals fire extinguisher. BTW it's F1 tomorrow. Come on Red Bull!!! |

Re: Tom Pryce Crash @ Kyalami S.A. 1977
This is probably the only video I've watched that disturbs me. I don't know why. I understand the car was going 170mph, but seeing that guy rip apart in less than a second is so...Eerie. Kudos though, I'm so very curious about this crash.
