I don't think she fell I think she slid off the edge assuming the roof below would support her weight, which would explain her friends lack of reaction and confusion. She also wouldn't have known the drop below that section of the roof (which only looked a few meters wide which is unluckly) so wouldn't instantly have assumed it was deadly.
