On October 6th, three friends - 22-year-old Letícia A.R., 21-year-old Carol F.R., and the teenaged Rafaela C.S. - went to a rural area of the municipality of Anguera, saying they were going to look for clothes. They never returned.

According to family members, Carol was the first to disappear. The other two disappeared soon after. Two of them had their cell phones with them, but they didn't respond to calls or texts.

The ex-boyfriend of one of the women, who had been investigated for a role in a homicide a year ago, was arrested, but after giving a statement where he denied involvement, was released.

Two more men, involved in drug trafficking, were arrested on the 9th. During the operation, police seized burnt clothing, women's sandals and the cell phone of one of the victims. One of the items had bloodstains. On the 13th, a 19-year-old woman, suspected of having a role in the crime, was also arrested, and two other women have been arrested.

On the 14th, the bodies of the three women were found in a dried-up river in a difficult-to-access part of a wooded area.
