Three Dead After Semi-Truck Driver Tried to Make U-Turn on Florida Turnpike
Three people were killed after a semi-truck made a U-turn on the Florida Turnpike on Tuesday. According to WPTV, a semi-truck tried to make a U-turn at an “Official Use Only” turn and crossed in front of a minivan in the left lane. The driver of the minivan was unable to avoid the semi-truck. The semi-truck and trailer “jackknifed and came to rest on top” of the minivan, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. WPTV reports that the 30-year-old driver of the minivan and his two passengers, a 37-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, all died. The driver of the semi-truck and the passenger - both in their 20s, and both residing in California - were not injured. |

stupid piece of shit had 0 remorse. all to avoid a $5 toll... hope he gets life. that being said, driver definitely could've reacted in time if they were paying attention and not just staring 3 feet in front of their car. |

Hmmm wonder if he’s a legal resident? He’s in FL not some liberal blue state. He’s fukd regardless for his driving negligence, but if he’s illegal, he’ll direct ship right to Alligator Alley.

Didn't look like enough time for a van going 75-80 to fully stop when you factor in reaction time. The impact wasn't that hard but due to the trailer's elevation there was zero "crumple zone" to absorb the impact, so even a slow speed crash at 20-30 mph can be fatal due to the direct transfer of force. |
