Three Dead After Gunmen Attack a Mototaxi
El Oro province, Ecuador Two men and a women were murdered by gunmen while they were travelling in a mototaxi. The victims were identified as A.P.H., J.E.A.L., and J.J.V.M. - their ages were not disclosed. Their deaths are believed to be related to the gang war that exists for the control of the passage and sale of drugs. A pamphlet was distributed in which a group took responsibility for the crime. The pamphlet read: For the inhabitants of our Huaquillas Canton, what happened on 28 February was an execution against the people who call themselves Lobos and Nueva Generación. It is not against people who dedicate themselves to honest work. The mototaxi in which the victims were travelling was intercepted by a grey car, from which two individuals got out and shot at them. The assassins did not target the mototaxi driver, who fled without injury. The officers found 18 ballistic traces of a long gun and 8 traces of a handgun. It is presumed that the assassins fled in the direction of neighbouring Peru. |
