Re: Thief Tortured in Africa
Normatively, the "punishment fits the crime," i.e. severe poverty equates severe punishment from theft. In dire straits, theft could be detrimental to life! But here, the men look very well off, especially by African standards! No doubt the administration of corporal punishment is being undertaken by an employer, community leader, crime lord, etc. In other words, "losing face" would no doubt cost him more than the stolen item(s)!

Re: Thief Tortured in Africa
Surprised that several tyres didn’t suddenly appear, along with a few litres of petrol. For Africa, he got off lightly. |
