It's not visible, but there's some sort of pillar or barrier that brought that thing to an abrupt stop. If you go frame-by-frame, they would have cleared the area where the vehicle ended up unless they just stopped moving before it got there.

on last frame you can see car just short of where they were standing, so either it missed them or just clipped them sending them flying. But either way, they should've survived.
