Re: Texas Deputy Shoot and Kills Navy Veteran Lyle P. Blanchard
Totally agree. The "navy veteran" thing is completely irrelevant. We can't hear the cop, but I'm pretty sure he would be yelling something like "Driver... stay in your car. Driver... stay in your car" etc. But no. He abruptly throws open the door, gets out and reaches deep in his pocket. You can also see him mouthing something, all of which show an irrationally aggressive posture. You can also be certain that the cop was yelling "SHOW YOUR HANDS" or "GET ON THE GROUND NOW" "GET ON THE GROUND OR I WILL SHOOT YOU" etc etc. What is the cop supposed to do? Wait and see what the guy pulls out of his pocket? Some people dig their own graves, and this guy was one of them. |

What this guy said. I think of my nephew, who is in the Navy at this very moment. He is an F-18 mechanic. He handles wrenches and wire cutters, not weapons! His only experience with handling a weapon was the few weeks he spent in basic training. And how many weeks do they spend on the range? Three? Four, etc? I don't know, but I can't imagine it's not that much. I think the whole entire training period was something like 8 weeks.

No, no seeker, I was laying out scenarios that may have taken place in the video. Certainly, specialty plates & DoD stickers have been earned. 20 year veterans & disabled veterans can get onto most U.S. military bases with their I.D. What an honor. And how the heck can you quote something or make it appear that I said it? Not once did I use the word nonsense but it appears on my screen in a quote like I said "(nonsense) about cops fearing veterans"? I never said that. Is that some editing feature that I don't know about? I'm serious.

No problem with this. Google the Oregon state highway video of the black military man standing at ready with furtive movements then shooting the cop. I'd shoot too.

I live not far from Harker Heights. I remember the story but never got to see the video. Thanks O.P. I agree with some of you, it looked like a suicide by cop. Him opening the door after stopping made the whole situation dangerous. |
