Re: Texas Deputy Shoot and Kills Navy Veteran Lyle P. Blanchard

^^And using the term veteran-(as you highlighted my use of the term in the quote), shows a level of respect for these men and women. Just as police officer/law enforcement terms are more respectful than the word cop.

Re: Texas Deputy Shoot and Kills Navy Veteran Lyle P. Blanchard

^^On a roll here. Why use the term Aryan Brotherhood, Neo Nazi, KKK Klansman, civil disobedience, protester. Because you can bet if a police officer pulls over one of the above mentioned and the officer knows the type of person that he is pulling over-(say a vehicle with nazi insignia plastered on it), that officer will handle the stop completely different than dealing with granny in her 1967 turquoise blue convertible Cadillac

If you go grabbing into a pocket after a police chase, you have a few bullets with your name on them.

The deputy should get the gas chamber. He is a murderer.

Re: Texas Deputy Shoot and Kills Navy Veteran Lyle P. Blanchard

Veterans have been trained-(marksmanship)-to accurately handle firearms. For the most part, veterans would be more likely to be legally law abidingly armed. Veterans can be issued specialty license plates identifying veteran status and that information could be interpretated by the officer to use extra safety precautions because this veteran could be specially trained in hand to hand combat. The officer might be dealing with a PTSD combat veteran who has become temporarily unstable. Who would pose the biggest threat to an officer, a 18 y/o teenaged high school boy or a Marine-leatherneck-special forces/Navy SEAL. Possibly, local law enforcement had had previous negative interactions with the man and his veteran status and were expecting an altercation. I would be more intimidated by a well trained veteran than a regular Joe.
There are millions of veterans who, outside of basic training, have never handled a firearm other then the standard issued rifle.

I think you're lumping anyone who has served with Special Operations, which I don't need to tell you, is absurd.

I'm not talking down to any member of the military, but a lot of people assume that if you served at any point in your life, you're Rambo, and we all know what Rambo did to cops in first blood

Constable

Peace

WTF is disrespectful about calling LEO's cops? It's a hell of a lot easier to roll of the tongue then "police officer" every time.

I've yet to meet a single cop who gets offended at being called that btw, and I know many of them.

Re: Texas Deputy Shoot and Kills Navy Veteran Lyle P. Blanchard

^^Yes sir officer vs yes sir cop. Officer, I need directions, Cop, I need directions. You be the judge. I did say "respect & more respectful". No where did I say or imply "offended or disrespectful". Of course you are not putting down or implying anything negative about our veterans. Neither would I.
