On Saturday January 10 a police officer (49) in Venezuela made his rounds, as usual for more than 23 years, entering a bakery around 9:00 am, ordering a coffee and some breakfast.

Carrying his gun to his side, he stood at the counter a few meters from another client that also made a purchase. That was a young man carrying a red backpack like someone who goes to school or work.

Seconds later the young man left the property holding a small bottle of juice in his hand.
The boy left through the door, but turned around and when he returned he had changed the juice bottle for a revolver.

He stood behind the robust police officer, pointing his gun to his head and shot him. He said nothing, made no warning or threatenings. Just pulled the trigger, without remorse.

The policeman fell dead to the floor. His attacker crouched beside the body and swiftly took the gun from the holster and ran away.

All customers of the establishment left in a hurry, including another young man who had just entered the restaurant, also with suspicious attitude, and therefore he could be the accomplice of the murderer.

The officer was promoted to supervisor postmortem and leaves two sons.

His two attackers died soon after an alleged confrontation with a police patrol unit.

Both were 18 years old. Police seized the revolver that was used to murder the police officer together with the police gun.

In Caracas last year 132 policemen were killed and more than 250 were killed throughout the country, but nothing happened. These crimes are already "routine". There were massive protests on Twitter, Facebook and street protests against this sort of violence as civilians fear criminals are taking over the society but nothing have been done yet by government to stop this.

Must suck to be a cop there: ten police officers killed, only in 2015, only in the region of Grand Caracas.
Back in 2014, the police in Miranda made 1073 arrests (only those caught red-handed):
of them, 653 returned to the streets unpunished. Dangerous and frustrating for the cops.
