A 17-year-old girl, Nathaly R.d.N., died after being shocked by a high-voltage wire on Tuesday afternoon (23). Her death happened as Goiânia was severely affected by heavy rainfall.

According to the Military Police, the victim had left the stationery store where she worked during the daytime, to take a bus to go to school, 38 kilometres away. She was crossing a road when she stepped on a live wire that had fallen onto the flooded asphalt.

According to an eyewitness, the cables had fallen onto the road around an hour-and-a-half before Nathaly died. "Sparks were still flying across the asphalt. It was a tragedy - we're all at risk".

Family members attended Nathaly's funeral with signs demanding that the company behind the power lines be held responsible. Police are investigating.

Wow she got zapped and it seems like he definitely felt some kind of electric shock in that water, but was fortunate enough to have had the strength to keep walking out the water. Looks really weird but that’s what I think happened
