Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
From this picture it appears the kid was too big for the bar/arm to come all the way down. Maybe chris is correct and the bar wasn't locked and it opened, or it's also possible he just slid out under the bar while it remained locked. The fact the carny said the light was "green" indicates it was probably locked, in this case the soul brother was too beaucoup and/or the arm restraint was improperly designed for biggers. It will probably require millions of USD of litigation and some injury lawyer(s) will be able to buy the Ferrari with the see thru glass engine cover from their fees / percentage of lawsuit.

Found a much longer video + I'm pretty sure it's the most clear (feel free to use it in the main post!):

The boy has been named as Tyre Sampson. Another image of him, in addition to the couple I posted earlier:

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
Well... let's hope this gets stuff rolling. This - in my eyes - is a fatal ( This ride should not be build in a way, that allows people to slip out of the bottom - especically if supervised by teens that probably only had a 30min instruction in how to operate this thing. I've read some posts in this thread about the overhead-thingy having to be clicked in three times... Why not implement a mechanism that wont start the ride if not secured correctly? Pretty much every car nowadays will tell you if you have your seatbelt fastened or not... I'm pretty sure I've seen some rides here in Germany with a visual indicator (light) above the seat that indicates correct closure - they probably can't start the ride if not all are closed correctly - but even if not, a visual cue at least would be a start. |

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
Reckon the fella slid out from under the restraint. It doesn't look as though it's pinning his frame into the seat properly. The ride comes down at high speed and then slows down all of a sudden, as is normal. At this point the fella's size and momentum in the seat is continuing to push him downwards. The combination of that and the restraint not having any sort of meaningful grip on him propelled him out from under the restraint and off the seat. |
