Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
Found this video of two amusement park ride enthusiasts gave a firsthand look at what it’s like being on the ride, from how the riders are secured, the forward tilt just before the drop, and the free fall ride down. |

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
The only two times I’ve been to a theme park, Blackpool and Alton towers, an accident happened both times I was there. I will never see foot in a theme park again.

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
Thanks for that video. I thought I would try the ride if I was ever in the area. After this vid, I won't be riding it - too spooky and I am afraid of heights like going on my roof.

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
I live close the Blackpool pleasure beach, there's was a crash with The Big One a few years ago one car was coming back in and smashed into the back of the ones waiting to go out. First time I went on The Big One it stopped halfway up the climb, it didn't bother me though. Alton Towers had that big fuck up a few years ago people lost limbs and lots of injuries. If it didn't require selling a kidney I'd definitely go to the pleasure beach more often I love theme parks.

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
According to the operating manual of the ride…it maxes out at 285lbs. The child was over 300lbs. However, having said that, imagine the way some people would treat a “ride operator” asking them how much they weighed. I own a gab group made up of 99% women and I guarantee you they would pitch a fit if asked about their weight. Vanity vs safety. Perhaps the ride operator was intimidated. Big payout to family though and very sad all around. |
