Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
Lol when their manager walked up, "are you guys sure you checked him?" Yeah we did but they put more R&D into barricade protocol than with any of the fall arrest equipment

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
To add, the seats do lean forwards right before the ride freefalls. More accurately, force is not straight down, in relation to the seat position and a person's center-of-gravity. You actually need that harness in place to hold you in the seat after the seats adjust into their forward-leaning position, before freefall. There's no chance in hell a person could hold a strong enough grip, to stay in the seat. Far too many G's. His body was basically ejected right out of the seat. |

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
I've worked that style of ride and have no idea where you got that three clicks notion. The clicking is a locking mechanism. One should've held him in. If he leaned forward when the OP checked the bars he can fake that the bar was locked by it seeming snug against his body. That why rides at cedar fair parks of this style have a seatbelt between the legs so people won't submarine. Florida has crap amusement park laws.

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
There’s definitely going to be a lawsuit… this is exactly why I don’t take joy in visiting amusement parks. The last time I went to a go cart park and the Velcro seatbelts were so worn, if someone bumped into me I would of definitely went sailing. It’s rare and sounds paranoid but why chance a painful injury or worse. |

We watched this over and over again at work and can’t figure out if it was the slowing down of the drop or if he just wasn’t secured.

Re: Teenage Boy Killed by Drop Tower in Orlando, Florida
With the clearer pic of him in the seat, at this point I would agree with you and also put serious money on the slip & fall explanation. When the restraint comes all the way down for average size people the crotch is pinned by the erect testical / hymen buster appendage sticking up from the seat bottom. I bet Toby would love to sit ON the erect appendage during his ride, G force would probably shove it right up you arse (as the Limeys say).
