May 3rd, 2018, Ecuador, A taxi driver was stabbed several times this Thursday,3rd, afternoon, when he was driving through the sector of the Luis A. Martínez bridge in the city of Ambato. He was taken to the hospital of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS), where he died due to the severity of the injuries. The victim was identified as Manuel Alarcón Suárez, 54, who belonged to the Circunvalación taxi cooperative. According to one of his colleagues, who preferred to reserve his name, the now deceased was one of the founders of that group of taxi drivers more than 30 years ago. According to the first inquiries, the perpetrator wounded the taxi driver with the intention of robbing him, but fled towards the Ambato river after noticing the presence of a policeman. The suspect was subsequently arrested. |
