The objects placed on their corpses makes me think they are labelled for their crimes. One had money strewn around him so maybe usury, as that's forbidden in the Quran. Another man had a bottle of alcohol on his lap, also forbidden. The one that puzzles me is the man next to the donkey. Did he steal it? Then why wouldn't they give it back to the owner? Or is this rationality too much to ask of the Taliban… Probably so.
