Preliminary investigations of the National Security in Alexandria, Egypt revealed that the man accused of killing the owner of a liquor/wine store is a takfiri.

A takfiri is a Muslim who accuses another Muslim (or an adherent of another Abrahamic faith) of apostasy. The accusation itself is called takfir, derived from the word kafir (unbeliever), and is described as when one who is, or claims to be, a Muslim is declared impure.

Accusing other Muslims of being takfiris has become a sectarian slur, particularly since the outbreak of the Syrian Civil War in 2011.

The motive for the murder was "selling wines/alcohol ," what he saw as violation of the (sharia) law and religion.

Investigation revealed that the killer does not belong to any criminal group and was converted to takfiri thoughts 4 years ago.

Security forces arrested the accused while hiding in one of the abandoned buildings and that the killer, Adel Suleiman, 48, is a candy vendor living in the Derbala area.

He told more than once he warned the victim to stop the sale of liquor/alcohol/wines because it is forbidden and when he did not respond to him he decided to slit his throat.

Video shows the 45-year old owner was sitting in front of a cafe when the accused approached from behind, took out a large knife from the folds of his clothes and attacked the owner by slitting his throat. He fled inside but was prenounced dead after the ambulance arrived.(or in Hospital-conflicting reports)

The prosecution tries to collect all footage from surveillance cameras in near-by shops and awaits forensic and autopsy report of the victim.
