Daaamn.... what a difference just a few inches' lack-of-clearance makes, when dancing with a truck. Suddenly your head's a flat grape, before you even had time to panic....

Death comes quick getting run over by multiple tons of weight like that. She squished out quick. No time to even think about it. |

i bet she wasn't expecting the double trailer, so at the split-second moment she saw the first one go by she made her move, and got plastered by the second one

Re: Taiwan: Woman Ran Over Truck After Swerving Around Illegally Parked Car
My dad used to ride donorcycles a lot in the Pacific NW. Back in those days (and maybe still today, dunno) it was legal for shipping companies such as UPS to run 3-trailer rigs JUST through OR (and maybe a couple other states), rather than the max-of-2 nearly everywhere else. He saw over time a couple of guys who failed to look for/expect a third trailer and paid the price.

Chinos... Tired of their shit here in the US. I do not ever visit my local Chinatown because the car always gets dinged. It is guaranteed that if you park in a public parking spot, your car will get a door ding from the do-not-give-a-f*** way they open their cars. |

Re: Taiwan: Woman Ran Over Truck After Swerving Around Illegally Parked Car
The female motorcyclist, surnamed Sun, was a dedicated insurance agent. At the time of the accident, she was traveling on her scooter to meet a client for business. The truck driver, Mr. Hong, 29, did not stop immediately. He later told police he was unaware of the collision and denied driving under the influence of alcohol. However he was charged with homicide by negligence and leaving the scene of an accident. The 45-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver, Mr. Chen parked his car illegally on a zebra crossing and in the motorcycle lane to buy a drink. He has also been referred for investigation for homicide by negligence due to his role in creating the obstruction. An autopsy conducted on March 5, 2026, confirmed that Ms. Sun died from severe head and neck trauma, as well as extensive internal injuries to her chest and abdomen. Ms. Sun's family, deeply distraught during the body identification process, has filed official charges against both drivers. Mr. Chen can face up to 5 years in prison. In Taiwan, judges increasingly hand down prison sentences, instead of fines, to illegal parkers in fatal cases to set a public example. Mr. hong that left the scene of an accident involving death can face a mandatory sentence of 1 to 7 years. His claim of not knowing will be tested against the truck's sensors and the severity of the impact. |
