Tables have turned and now we watch them slaughter other people in the name of their (and frankly our) God. I think the interesting question is where does it all start? How deep does the rabbit-hole go? Q: Mr Rebel, mind if I ask some questions before you relieve this man of his head? A: Not at all. By all means ask away. Q: Now, why do you behead people? A: They support Assad, whom we oppose. Q: And why do you oppose Assad? A: Because he's oppressive. Q: Why is he oppressive? A: Because he lusts for power and wants to hold on to it. Q: Very well. And how does he finance his opression? A: Mainly through taxes. High taxes I might add. Q: So how can he collect these high taxes? A: He owns all the land and rents it to businesses and people. We have no land of our own. Q: And if you owned your land yourselves, his power would diminish? A: We could do with our land as we please, build modern factories and grow whatever crops we want. So yes, his power through rents and taxes would certainly diminish. Q: So the question is not political at all, it's economic. This is about land-ownership and more precisely, getting rid of state owning any land at all? A: Basically yes. That would solve most of our problems. We could do trade without too much interference and tax-burdens would lessen. Also Assad could not support such a large military with little taxes and thus his oppression would never even begin. Q: So the military is what costs and thus the high taxes. And high taxes demand a large military. Vicious sycle, isn't it? A: It certainly is. The high taxes is what makes living difficult. If living was easy, why would anyone bother with uprisings? What would be the reason to oppose easy and prosperous living, no matter how much military we had? Now that I think about it, if the taxes were low, I wouldn't give a rat's ass about what the government does with the money. They could blow it on whores for all I care, if the taxes were low and we were left to do our business as we please. On our own land, if possible. Q: Thank you, mister Rebel, for your time.
