Watching the video, I did not see anything unusual either. It's China, a guy is underwater, so situation normal. I expected a death. At least there was no bus, or train, or molten metal. I assume the planned wedding was ALSO poolside.  |

To give the women the benefit of the doubt, they may have been novices there for swimming instruction, with no subject knowledge. They knew he was the expert swim instructor. Ignoring his stupid decision to do "breath training," maybe he felt he was introducing the concept of putting the face under water and holding the breath, which is an early step of swim instruction. With no background, maybe the women thought he was clowning around, took another breath when he was spinning around, and then dove to the bottom to lurk. People unfamiliar with drownings tend to think a drowning person will splash around and call for help, like in the movies and cartoons. But most drownings slip under silently because they are unable to keep their mouths above water, and don't have any air in their lungs to call for help. This poor guy silently passed out and drowned, and nobody realized it, because he didn't act the part. |
