One of the indoor ranges I go to implemented a policy where you have to bring a person with you if you want to rent a handgun after someone blew their brain out up there a few years ago. I guess they think it's less likely someone will kill themselves if they bring someone with them

They should implement a system where you have to book a day or week in advance if you're coming alone or for anyone so that people who want to kill themselves impulsively can't do it immediately and by the time they can go to the shooting range, they may have changed their mind.

My state has a 3 day wait for handguns IIRC. So if you need a weapon right now, rental can be a solution...
