Here is a warped motivation that I read about in connection with another self immolation. The person was consumed with guilt over stuff he'd done in life and figured he was going to Hell when he died. He thought that god might lighten his punishment in eternity somewhat if he burned himself in his own "Hell" first. Get some of it over with here and now.
