Re: Suicide of Colleen Ferrerion on Facebook Live

Had depression, get where she was coming from - glad I didn't have a gun at the time. As for licencing, how does it work do people with firearms licences have to re-apply/checked regularly or bi-yearly etc?

In the states you don’t need a license to acquire a firearm. FBI is sapose to conduct a background check for every applicant wanting to buy a firearm but I don’t know how thorough they’re background check is.

In Canada you need a possession and acquisition license to own a firearm. You need to pass a course depending on which firearm you plan on owning, there’s non-restricted (rifles/shotguns) and restricted (handguns/short barrel riffles). After passing the test the RCMP will conduct a background check and if your cleared you will receive your license in 3 months time. When renewing your license every 5 years the RCMP again does another background check.

Both countries have millions of guns in circulation h

Re: Suicide of Colleen Ferrerion on Facebook Live

Ahh thanks for the info =]

I have an air rifle myself now in the UK, I'm not against having firearms as I would love to take shooting up as a sport for targets but its difficult here even if I want to leave them with the clubs custodians etc - just seems like a hard thing to police but the Canadian way seems to be very responsible, we can't after all account for every eventuality

Re: Suicide of Colleen Ferrerion on Facebook Live

It might have helped to ask why she felt like a piece of shit person instead of disagreeing with her all the time - “no you aren’t, no you don’t” - she was right, he didn’t know her so couldn’t know that. Better to see if she could talk about it. She put it on Facebook live which meant something. She wanted people to see and hear her.

In some states, including the one I currently reside in, most prominent gun shops will only run a felony check. If you are felony free, with no open case #'s then you can purchase any legal weapon you choose. If you want to purchase multiple weapons then they may run an extensive check and your name will be noted for a period of time. Registration is not required.

Re: Suicide of Colleen Ferrerion on Facebook Live

I feel very sad for this woman, because I have been her. Only difference is that I didn't die, despite my best efforts.

I can't be angry at the police because most people who are not severely mentally ill have no idea what to say to somebody who is, but truthfully is entire tactic was flawed.

He kept making it entirely about the children and was disagreeing with her every time that she said she was a no good loser. She has a very good point. He doesn't know her, so he doesn't know who she is or if her kids would be better of without her (in her mind).

I think the better way to go in this situation is to try and talk out why the person feels the way they do and really sounds compassionate and genuine instead of argumentative. He might have told her the kids need her, but that doesn't solve the problem that she feels like a worthless human being. Help her feel less terrible and see herself in perspective, and maybe this would have been different.

We'll never know.

Re: Suicide of Colleen Ferrerion on Facebook Live

Where did she get an assault rifle anyway? Can u get those at Walmart?
Take your meds kids!
It wasn't an assault rifle, as she didn't assault anyone with it.

Yes, yes you can, and rightfully so...

Good possibility the meds caused her actions...
