Suicidal Man Jumps from 236 Ft High Public Urban Elevator
Brazil, The Lacerda Elevator is a public urban elevator located in Salvador, Brazil, connecting the lower city (Cidade Baixa) to the upper city (Cidade Alta). The 72 metres (236 ft) elevator was built between 1869 and 1873; it was named after Antônio de Lacerda, director of the Commercial Association of Bahia. It was a hydraulic elevator at first; later operating by electricity since 1906. The elevator towers were renovated in 1930, in an Art Deco styling. The Lacerda Elevator has two towers, one that pierces the stone slope of the Ladeira da Montanha, and other, more visible, that goes to the level of the Cidade Baixa. The elevator has four lifts, carrying 27 passengers each on a 30-second ride costing 0.15 reais. In 2019 it transported more than 33,000 passengers per day. The elevator was listed as historical heritage of Brazil by IPHAN, on 7 December 2006. |

Does this sort of event surprise people in Brazil anymore? Wake up in the morning, get your coffee, read the newspaper, waitress brings you your bacon and eggs over easy.....wait.....somethings not quite right here.... *SPLAT* Ahhh, thats better. Pay the check and tip your waitress. Off to another day of mind-numbing boredom at work, unless one of your coworkers decides to go postal. Just another day in Hell  |

if the elevator had only been 235 feet high, he might have survived. Cool seeing really old municipal structures like this one. Especially one with 148 years of history behind it. And it still works! |

Kellyhound, I'm not saying this against you. I really appreciate all the wonderful thing you bring her for us to watch. However, those videos are probably the worst 3 pack of videos I've ever seen.
