Re: Suicidal Guy Jumps from 70 Meter High Transmission Tower
What a great job of maintaining body control throughout the jump. If it had been a cliff/bridge jump into water, he probably would've nailed it. Maybe if the paddy were a little deeper? |

I disagree. There is a certain clarity of thought that comes when facing what you think is certain death. The "problems" of life are instantly put in perspective. Only terminally ill people have a good reason to kill themselves, everyone else will realize on the way down that any life is better than no life.

Re: Suicidal Guy Jumps from 70 Meter High Transmission Tower
It can’t be guaranteed, we will never know what he was thinking. You only understand it from your perspective. While the majority of people think your way, there is some who think differently and have been dealt or made bad circumstances for themselves which they don’t want to try fixing because it takes a lot of effort, particularly if at an elderly age. While it is selfish to do if at least one person or pet cares about you (excluding terminal illness), no one actually has true authority to stop someone as it is their life and choice, and they will do it regardless if they are truly determined. |

Re: Suicidal Guy Jumps from 70 Meter High Transmission Tower
Statistically, he probably experienced instant regret mid-air. This regret has permanence as well: A literature review (Owens 2002) summarized 90 studies that have followed over time people who have made suicide attempts that resulted in medical care. Approximately 7% (range: 5-11%) of attempters eventually died by suicide, approximately 23% reattempted non-fatally, and 70% had no further attempts. |
