Re: Squad Getting Killed
They didn't seem well trained at all. First of all you don't advance from top of hills unless theres some cover on top of them. Next, they were way too bunched up, 10-15 meters per fireteam member is absolute minimum, to prevent someone flanking the squad and murdering everyone with one well aimed burst. Then, not a single one of them attempted to do well-aimed shots, badly aimed covering fire does absolutely nothing in nonurban warfare unless you have an LMG and that guy clearly struggled to understand how PKM works despite how simple PKM is. Additionally the guy let the barrel of the gun bury deep in the dirt, risking a chance of misfire or malfunction. One of them threw a grenade for no reason when clearly the enemy position was way too far for grenades (in the building). Then, none of them followed the "2-shot" rule where you aim at a target and shoot twice in quick succession, to secure the kill. Finally most of the squad and the cameraman himself rarely if ever hit the dirt and laid low, he tried fixing the PKM sitting in plain sight for minutes instead of laying on the ground and doing the same thing. Both urban and non-urban fighting you try to make yourself as small a target as possible at all times and standing while shooting is a stupid thing to do unless its a fast point blank-range kind of situation. It was a bunch of untrained fanatics or barely-conscripts given guns and shown which end is the dangerous one, then thrown into battle. |
