India. Three Hindu pilgrims were killed and a fourth was critically injured when a speeding car rammed into them from behind in the early hours of the morning on the highway in Punjab. The victims were part of a group of devotees of Lord Shiva who were traveling on foot back to their hometown after collecting holy water from Ganges.

M.P, 43, D.K, 42 and J.M, 40 were killed. another pilgrim was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the victims on the dark highway. The police have not yet released the exact name of the driver, but they successfully traced the vehicle using a broken license plate that fell off at the crash site.

The pilgrims, aka Kanwariyas, were participating in the annual Kanwar Yatra. They were traveling on foot carrying sacred water from the Ganges River, typically transported in small pots suspended on decorated bamboo structures called Kanwars.

The puppet is Lord Shiva. He is often called the Destroyer, and simultaneously protects his devotees from evil, fear, ignorance and the traps of time and death but this time he had other things to do.
