Speedy Car Fatally Hits Waiting Biker at Intersection
Brazil, Edson.B.D, 47, was on his bike and waiting for the traffic light at the intersection when a car, driven by engineer Carlos E.M.Â, 25 years old slammed into him from behind at a considerable speed. The bike and Edson ended up 40 meters further down the road. As a result Edson died. The front of the car was destroyed. Carlos refused to take a breathalyzer test and was taken to the Police Station to give a statement about the accident. He was charged with aggravated homicide and remains in custody. |

Re: Speedy Car Fatally Hits Waiting Biker at Intersection
Imagine how the other 2 bikers felt after that happens right in front of them? They looked at each with body language that said "glad it wasn't me!". Don't think they slept that night. The biker who was hit, on the other hand, will now sleep forevermore.

Re: Speedy Car Fatally Hits Waiting Biker at Intersection
A few years back I was on my GSXR waiting to turn left at an intersection, and this guy slammed his car into the car next to me in the right lane, causing a small pile-up. The front of his car was completely totalled, his wheel bent but he was still trying to get away until a few of us stopped him. Another witness pointed out how lucky I was that he didn't hit me; I'd have been cartwheeled in the air just like that guy. That was sobering.

Re: Speedy Car Fatally Hits Waiting Biker at Intersection
The real reason for lane splitting at traffic lights by motorcyclists is for this reason. Wouldn’t have helped here, but rear end collisions at traffic lights are a death sentence for a biker, a simple insurance claim for a car.
