I have just come across an article that I think this is about, here's a translation:

Detainees at the Altamira Regional Recovery Center in southwestern Pará rioted for about five hours on Monday morning (29). According to the Superintendency of the Pará Penitentiary System (Susipe), 52 detainees were killed, 16 of them beheaded and the rest asphyxiated. Two prison officers, who were held hostage, were released.

A fight between criminal organizations provoked the rebellion. According to Susipe, inmates in block A, where they are being held in detention by a criminal organization, broke into the annex where they are interned by a rival group. The Superintendency has not yet identified the groups.

Subsequently, the room was locked and inmates set fire to the scene. Smoke invaded the annex and some detainees died of asphyxiation, according to Susipe. The action started at 7am and ended around 12pm.
