Re: Snow Bank Falls from Roof Killing a Pedestrian
We almost got a two for one deal here. That white car pulling out from the side street ran into a pedestrian but forgot to panic and put their foot down accelerating over the bugger and leaving a trail of blood... better luck next time.

Freak accident. Scary way to go cause it could happen to anyone... Icicles creep me out, you never know if they'll just come crashing down. I nearly got struck last winter by HUGE icicles falling from a store sign.

Re: Snow Bank Falls from Roof Killing a Pedestrian
I have those iron rails on my roof and right now they're holding quite a good ton (if not more) of snow firmly in place. Like me, probably most of Scandinavia does. It's no third world country solution. Their role is absolutely that. To avoid that when the first warm whiff comes and makes the roof surface slippery, the entire snow load doesn't collapse on the ground killing people like it happened here, but it's properly filtered. The tragedy above happened because the iron bars were clearly not well mantained or secured and they broke. Otherwise, they are designed for that and they do their job wonderfully - when properly upkept. |
