Six Year Old Girl That Died in a Traffic Accident
She was a motorcycle passenger. The mother riding the motorcyle got slightly injured when she hit a vehicle while her daughter died.

Yes...she should be punished for not having a helmet on her child... But truthfully...what she's going through with the knowledge that she killed her own daughter will haunt her the rest of her life and no doubt drive her crazy... I know it would me...

And it's the one thing that haunts everyone in EMS... Even myself... My first loss was an 18 mo baby...I wasn't even out of school yet...just doing a ride-a-long with one of my instructors... I very nearly quit EMS that day... That was 17 years ago... But I stuck it out and I'm damn glad I did... Excellent post Kelly!  |
