Single-engine Cessna with Skydivers Crashed Aftermath

Brazil, the single-engine Cessna took off at 12:50 of Para flying club with five occupants yesterday. One of the students of the skydiving class took the leap and landed safely on the ground, before the fall of the aircraft.

The bodies of three victims were found next to the plane. The fourth body (the pilot) was found by experts around 16h, 300m from the crash site of the single engine.

He probably jumped out of the airplane while crashing down.

Funerals will be held tomorrow and an investigation is started searching for the cause of the accident.

They had parachutes on, but waited in the plane to hit the ground/trees

Re: Single-engine Cessna with Skydivers Crashed Aftermath

I am a pilot, and have thought of this scenario several times. I do not claim to be an expert on aviation crashes, but humour me anyway. I imagine that his speed was quite high as he hit the ground. Other crashes that I have seen on the internet the aircraft is not as damaged because they glided into the forest. This one seems to have slammed into the ground. That makes me think that the aircraft was headed straight down, which can be narrowed down to a few possibilities:
1 they went into a cloud losing reference to the ground, and didn't use the instruments to stay alive.
2 a wing bent, or a cable broke in the wing or tail causing loss of directional control
3 the one survivor beat them all unconscious before bailing

Likely though, pilot or mechanical error causing a spin or spiral. It's hard to get out of a spinning airplane.

Re: Single-engine Cessna with Skydivers Crashed Aftermath

except the G force could have made them pass out.

right, "pilot"?

perhaps they could have climbed to high and passed out from low oxygen?

but being a pilot, and a scenario of Lizzy Borden being thrown around, makes me think you fly for GTA Airlines

Re: Single-engine Cessna with Skydivers Crashed Aftermath

I was a skydiver in my youth and so happens while still a student jumper, the plane stalled after the first jumper and went into a straight dive spin. No, I didn't die, but I remember wondering on the way down, why no one said anything (there were three left on the plain) or why my jumpmaster didn't get out of the plane so I could jump. Eventually, the pilot quit fighting the plane and it then went into a shallow spin he recovered from. Up and out ASAP!
