A pair of siblings was arrested by officers on Wednesday (21) for concealing a corpse, resisting arrest, and causing bodily harm. The investigation indicates that the two kept their father’s body inside a house for at least six months.

The body of Dário A.R.D., aged 88, was found in an advanced state of decomposition in one of the rooms of the residence. The report came from neighbors who stated they had not seen the elderly man for several months.

According to the police, the suspects - Tania C.M.D. and Marcelo M.D. - resisted the officers’ entry into the property, and Marcelo even engaged in a physical altercation with one of the officers.

At the scene, in addition to the body, officers found apparently new belongings, raising suspicions that the suspects were financially benefiting from their father’s death, possibly misusing funds or benefits in the elderly man’s name. The possibility that the elderly man was murdered has not been ruled out.

Forensic examinations are being conducted to determine the cause of death and the approximate time of death. The accused were admitted to a hospital under medical care due to signs of mental disorders.
