Re: Shot at Point Blank W/ Shotgun
Its an old video. These were Students who had occupied some building during a protest. The police came and cleared the building with tear gas, and this poor guy ran into the wrong cop while trying to surrender...

Re: Shot at Point Blank W/ Shotgun
One reason he didn't "recoil" is due to the fact that he was running forward when he was shot. In the movies, when someone is shot by a shotgun, the person's body goes flying backwards through the air. This is purely Hollywood. If a shotgun had enough power to actually send someone flying, the blast would actually go through the person's body. It's physics and ballistics... As to guessing the gauge of shotgun merely from the sound, that's hard to tell.

Re: Shot at Point Blank W/ Shotgun
Lemmeh explain. And we'll start with the physics. We aren't talking bout some pewny AK-47 bullet here. And when it comes to shotguns mass is definitely the predominant factor lol. Recoil from a gauge is significantly higher than a rifle. The width of a rifle round is about 7.62mm give or take a few mm.The 12ga slug that is about 6inches from my fingers at this moment is as wide as my thumb! I will give you an example. If you shoot a Siberian husky ((center ribcage)) with a rifle the dog is just going to fall.Or possibly keep running. But if you hit the same dog with a great big deer-slug,it will punch that 80lb dog right off it's feet.Trust me,I know from experience. And that was with a 16ga not a 12ga. Now watch this vid. http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...version-18815/ That guys head weighs about 15 pounds.Watch how that mans brain is blown up and backwards.A couple pounds of matter flies backwards like it was hit with a baseball bat. Also,a 7.62mm round isn't going to impact as much tissue as a round that's 3/25 of an inch in diameter. Again, back to physics. The speed of a shotgun round is much slower than a rifle round.Therefor a rifle round has more of a piercing effect. As a shotgun round has a punching effect much like a .45... Back to physics again. You will notice that the shot doesn't pierce through the mans neck. This tells me that the shot used wasn't heavy enough to provide for deep penetration. That's how I came to the conclusion that he is using a #6 shot or smaller. Just watch the vid I provided and observe that mans skull being blown vertically upwards. And as far as gauging the size of shotguns by their sound... I can tell you if it's a 12,16 or 20ga from a mile away.Literally, |
