Shot Dead at Gas Station
July 11th, 2018 Bragança, Pará At around 440am yesterday, an unidentified man on a motorcycle approached Moisés Vieira Tavares, 36, a taxi driver from Bacuriteua, and shot him in the head at least 3 times. He was rushed to Santo Antônio Maria Zacarria Hospital, but died this morning. |

A few shots in the head and the guy still lives for a few seconds or so. Amazing how the human body refuses to die |

His brainstem, located near the base of the skull, must still be intact, so his respiratory drive is intact (this is why a gunshot in the mouth is effective in suicide, it destroys the brainstem). Once he bleeds out, his heart will stop and then it’s all over. If you got to him quick enough and were able to maintain cardiac output and respirations, he could theoretically be kept alive but he’d be a vegetable. A carrot, maybe?
