The severed head of 26-year-old Priyanka K. was found dumped on a field, along with bloodstained clothes. The body of Priyanka, who had been reported missing the previous day, was discovered in parts - her torso was recovered from a toilet tank in a dilapidated irrigation department premises.

Priyanka had been married for around five years, and gave birth to three daughters. Her family claims she faced repeated harassment and abuse from her in-laws for not producing a son, including physical beatings allegedly fuelled by alcohol.

On the day she went missing, Priyanka and her husband had been invited to her sister's pre-wedding ceremony but did not appear. When her relatives visited the in-laws' home the next morning, they were allegedly told she had left for her parental home and were abusively dismissed with the remark, "She is your daughter, you search for her."

Priyanka's husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law have been detained, with police still searching for the father-in-law and other absconding family members.
