Actually, Chinese have an L sound in their language. It's how you get names like "Li", "Lui", "Lao", "Wenli", etc. It's the Japanese that use the semi-trilled R sound to represent L sounds in their loan words. Semi-trill just means similar to a rolled R but just once. Like your making a D noise with your tongue closer to your front teeth. |
