A bodyguard of the security secretary Julián Pacheco died this Sunday in a traffic accident in the community of El Ocotal, on the southern periphery of the Honduran capital.

The incident occurred at noon today when the victim, named D. E. A. B., a class I Police officer, was driving a pick-up truck when he collided with a sedan that was passing through the area.

The deceased, after crashing into the other car, ejected from his vehicle and fell on the pavement. The impact caused him to die instantly.

The scene was attended by members of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) and Forensic Medicine for the respective survey.

In the place where the accident occurred, in front of the Ministry of Security, traffic agents usually are in place, so it is unheard of how the accident occurred.

you don't know that. standard seatbelts aren't infallible- there's a reason that competitive drivers and stunt/airforce piots use multi-point harnesses

Multi point seatbelts aren't infallible either. No seatbelt is infallible.

But the guy died from being ejected from the truck. The truck probably crushed him, or slapped his head on the pavement with a lot of force, or both.

Which would not have happened if he was wearing a seatbelt.

It was easily survivable because the impact wasn't to the passenger compartment. It was hit in the bed. And as I said, seatbelts are fallible, but 99.99% of the time, they don't come undone during a crash. So the guy wouldn't have been thrown from his seat.

He may have been injured, but not dead.
