Re: Security Guard Shot and Killed
who robs a security guard? they’re armed and not likely to have any more money than an average person. even if you want their gun you still have to be all-in on killing them

Re: Security Guard Shot and Killed
It struck me that the guard was not familiar enough with his weapon and his gear. Safety: On or Off? Pistol Retaining Strap: Engaged or Disengaged? Also, he had not already been certain in his mind that he would shoot a perp. Result: Indecision resulting in Death If you are going to carry a weapon, it occurs to me that you need to have done all preparatory training and practices and made the decision as to whether you are prepared to kill or not. |

Re: Security Guard Shot and Killed
He should of gave him what he wanted then unloaded on him not like the guy would of gotten away with it. It may work it may not but better than pissing him off not complying. I seen many vids where people died cause they didnt comply but things can be replaced your life cant.

Re: Security Guard Shot and Killed
Very true, I could have not said it any better. anybody can carry, but it takes proper training and gear to be effective. my solution-No factory saftey(Glock,Canik,S&W)-No retention strap+high quality belt-Galco/NSR Tactical (you cant pull my pistol out from behind or from the front with any amount of force, only the "operator" can) to top it all off, many years of training and practicing with the skills that I was trained with. Doesnt help to go out "practicing" if you dont know what your doing. Of course, training with that very mindset you spoke of is most important. Thanks for the great post/observation!!! |

Well, I wasn't there so I cannot say for a certainty. But it did seem to me like he was fumbling at the very worst time to fumble and be puzzling things out... under stress... at the very last second. I'm glad that you have thought your equipment and procedures through thoroughly ahead of time. Seems like a wise way to do things. |

Re: Security Guard Shot and Killed
The fact he was a private security guard is likely why he had minimal training, when these jobs are so profit driven, and training is expensive, the lack of it shows clearly whenever there is a deadly force situation. The fact that he was unable to draw from his holster is indicative of a lack of training, and the man paid for it with his life.
